We are undoubtedly immersed in a narcissistic culture.
Advertising is marketed toward preying on our insecurities.
Self-help books promise to deliver the best version of ourselves.
The latest sports nutrition will give us the body that we have always desired.
It is all centred around the individual.
Me. Me. Me.
However, the great irony in this, is while all these products and services strive to provide us with fulfilment; true fulfilment is found through service.
By doing things for other people, and not purely for ourselves.
When we momentarily shift from constantly filling our own buckets and serving our own desires, and instead do something for another human, we realise that we too, feel the same rush of hormones; we too experience the same feel good emotions that the person we are serving experiences.
We find the fulfilment that we have all long been craving through authentic connection.
Selfishness or Service?
Only one of these provides true fulfilment and happiness.
