“The cave you fear to enter, holds the treasure you seek”
– Joseph Campbell –
Tim Ferriss is a well-known author, entrepreneur and podcast host.
Ferriss prides himself on his ability to collect enormous amounts of data, analyse it and relay it in a simple and understandable format. In this sense, Ferriss is incredibly apt at making decisions given that he is usually well educated, rational and leverages the perspectives of those around them.
That’s definitely one way to make an important decision.
However, there is also this way…
Ask yourself: What are you most fearful of? What are you most afraid of doing? Then, go with that one.
As we previously discussed Joseph Campbell’s quote: “the cave you fear to enter, holds the treasure you seek”; the same may be said when making an important decision – if your goal is long term growth and development.
With COVID–19 throwing many of our long terms plans into disarray, is this not the perfect time to hit the reset on many of our endeavours, and to re-calibrate ourselves in the direction that will be best for our long term growth?
Perhaps some of us are not in that position and that these decisions feel more like a luxury. And yet, we always have the choice as to how we perceive an external event. There is opportunity in every adversity – treasure in every cave.
Considering this, perhaps now is the perfect time to decide to grow; to decide to be challenged; to decide to change; to lean into fear when making decisions.
Looking back, you may view this as another pivotal moment in your life, and perhaps you will be glad you decided to take another step into that cave.
